Disney’s Star Wars Hotel

Disney’s Star Wars Hotel

Fortunately for Star Wars fans, travelers who are fans of the space-set fantasy franchise no longer need to travel to a galaxy far, far away to experience what it’s like staying at a place from the Star Wars universe.

Disney recently announced they will be launching a Star Wars themed hotel in conjunction with their soon=to-be-open Star Wars themed amusement park in Orlando. The hotel is still currently under construction, and the company has yet to provide a specific date at which the hotel will officially open to the public.

The announcement came during Disney’s D23 expo amid announcements of the new Star Wars film that is set to premier near the end of this year.

Not Your Everyday Hotel

This new Star Wars venture won’t be like any other hotel experience you’ve had before. Entitled the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, it will offer guests an experience more akin to a cruise ship than a traditional hotel stay.

Consumers participating in the experience will board the starcruiser named Halcyon for a two-night, three-day immersive experience that is beyond the wildest fantasy of even the most die-hard Star Wars fans that will be replete with specific interactive events and activities. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet characters from the Star Wars universe.

What to Expect

After arriving at the Halcyon, guests will enter a launch pod that will take them to their “ship” (all the rooms will be modeled after ships in the Star Wars universe).

If guests look out the window, rather than views of Orlando, they’ll see the vast expanse of space along with certain ships they may recognize from the Star Wars franchise.

Every room will have a view of space that will change as the experience progresses. There will also be appearances from friends—such as Chewbacca, as well as enemies (none named specifically so far).

It’s also estimated that the “ship” will have roughly 100 rooms—making it a much smaller hotel than most Disney venues (Disney’s Caribbean Beach, by comparison, has 2,000 rooms).

Excursions

Part of the reason Star Wars fans are so excited for this new hotel is the fact that it’s not just a hotel, but an immersive experience that will allow fans to feel as if they’re a part of the Star Wars universe.

There will be an excursion to Black Spire Outpost (an outpost in the Star Wars universe that exists at the edge of wild space and the unknown regions).

Skilled fighter pilots will have the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired navigation and defense skills aboard the Halcyon’s bridge—and those who have especially sharpened their pilot skills may even get the chance to steer the Galactic Starcruiser.

Guests will also be afforded the opportunity to learn how to wield a lightsaber (something that will appeal to both adults and kids), and there will also be a place to relax called the Super C Lounge (the jury is still out on whether there will be a cantina band playing music).
